Actress, singer and dancer Willow Smith is the daughter of Hollywood heavyweights Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. She is also the younger sister of child superstars Trey and Jaden Smith. Willow’s father Will, is notable for widespread music, television and film success, including blockbuster hits like Independence Day and The Pursuit of Happyness. Mother Jada is famous for early work on the hit TV sitcom A Different World, and for roles in a number of films. Child star Willow made her 2007 debut in I Am Legend, starring alongside her father Will. In 2008, she appeared in the film Kit Kitteridge: An American Dream, which earned her a Young Artist Award from the Young Artist Foundation Willow’s first single Whip My Hair, went platinum with her U.S. debut. Young Willow’s corresponding video managed to garner a Video of the Year nomination at the BET Awards of 2011. She also received a Best New Artist nomination and tied with brother Jaden for the YoungStars Award. Currently Willow is signed with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation record label. Both she and brother Jaden serve as youth ambassadors for Project Zambia, an organization that provides aid to children orphaned in Zambia because of AIDS.
